Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah:

Why I love what I do!

Every culture has its important days in the calendar and memorable events, and the Bar Mitzvah is a vital part of family and religious life in the Jewish community. Some might say it’s the most famous coming-of-age event in the world. For girls, the ceremony is called Bat Mitzvah, and both are unforgettable days in a young person’s life.

If a youngster in your family is currently preparing for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah the whole family, including the boys, are probably planning what to wear for the big day. An occasion like this demands something really special. Like a bride and groom on their wedding day the Barmitzvah Boy and Barmitzvah Girl want to stand out and for their families, it’s a fantastic opportunity to really go to town. It’s not all about spending a fortune though. Looking special need not cost too much and we at Silhouette London Limited try really hard to keep our prices competitive so that you can find your perfect look without breaking the bank!

So, what style is right for you? Here are my fashion tips for the season.

Most Batmitzvah Girls in the UK choose to wear a short party dress for the occasion. Any colour goes – gone are the days where the Batmitzvah girl has to wear white or ivory. Some girls fit beautifully in our adult ranges, one of which starts as small as a size 00 but for many, the adult shape doesn’t quite work. We have two ranges that fit this "tween” size perfectly so that major alterations are not required to achieve that perfect look.

There isn’t a prescribed style. A beaded bodice with a full skirt is still popular but each girl is different and it’s about finding that unique style for you – and that is what we love doing. Seeing a girl smile and twirl with excitement in their perfect dress is what makes us love what we do.

A new look for winter 2016 is the Two Piece which can look beyond stunning for the Batmitzvah Girl or her older sibling. The bodycon straight look also remains popular with the older girls and as for the little ones – well, the world is your oyster!! So many gorgeous styles to choose from to make sure your little sister feels like a princess.

But what about the boys? We would never forget them…

For the ceremony, most Barmitzvah Boys still wear a suit and our suits are top quality and super smart. They can also have some fun for the party. Party Shirts with contrasting cuffs and collars, funky t shirts under a cool blazer. Fancy designing your own t shirt for the event? No problem. Send us your image and we can have it made up in studs, crystals or just a flat image if you prefer.

Just like wearing the right thing for your school prom, the outfit you choose for this day will always stay with you and we aim to make the process fun, special and stress free…..
